Acceleration towards a circular textiles future
ReBlend aims to accelerate the movement towards circular textiles. This is done by making designers, makers and users aware of the problems in the industry, by saving used textiles from incineration, by setting up a chain in which there is control over the entire process from textile waste to new end product, through the connecting to be a factor between the various links in the chain and by making use of the available technology, now mechanical recycling supplemented in the long term with chemical recycling and other developments.
Within this new system, problems are discovered and solved, new knowledge is created and new ways to recycle textiles and thus replace new raw materials grow.
The environmental damage caused by textile production and the importance of making the choice for circular clothing and interior textiles made from regenerated materials is still quite underexposed. How much environmental damage is avoided by choosing a ReBlend product instead of the same product made of regular textile as offered by producers and importers? And what is the monetary value of this?
To be able to answer these questions a meta analysis is performed where textiles and clothing bought in the Netherlands are compared with ReBlend textile based on existing LCAs and Environmental P & L accounting method. The results show impressive savings per kilo cotton;
The ReBlend report shows how much environmental costs are avoided when choosing ReBlend products. Special thanks to Ioana Cotos, who as an intern at ReBlend has developed the first steps for this research.
The results show impressive savings per kilo cotton;
